I’m Steve Wilcox, a retired teacher turned accidental writer. My journey in education began in 1971, and after 50 years of teaching, I retired in 2021.
While working at the Texas Juvenile Justice Department, the COVID-19 pandemic drastically reduced my classroom duties. During that time, I began writing essays about my childhood, which were later published as The Album: Growing Up in the Age of Innocence in 2021. That same year, I released Vanished: The Mark Dennis Story, a deeply personal account of my four-decade search for the truth behind the loss of my friend Mark Dennis, who was aboard a helicopter shot down in 1966. Mark had introduced me to my wonderful wife, Judy, making this journey even more meaningful.
